kathrin berkner's biography

Kathrin Berkner is a Senior Research Scientist at Ricoh Innovations, Inc. in Menlo Park, CA, where she has applied her analytical skills to solve real-world problems, developed technologies for restoration and enhancement of images, reformatting of documents and images to adapt to small-size displays, as well as graphical models for document information in social media. Recently Kathrin has focused her work on development of technologies to support joint digital-optical imaging system design. Prior to joining Ricoh in 1998 she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Rice University, Houston, TX, performing research on wavelets in collaboration with the DSP group. Kathrin Berkner holds a PhD. degree in mathematics from the University of Bremen, Germany. She has been serving on program committees and as reviewer of several IS&T/SPIE, IEEE, and ACM conferences and is holder of numerous patents and awards.
