mypicture

I joined Ricoh Innovations in October 1998 as a member of the Color Image Processing group at Ricoh California Research Center. The focus of our group is strongly wavelet-oriented image compression (CREW and JPEG 2000), enhancement, analysis, and representation.

Research Interests

All sorts of wavelet transforms (maximal decimated, shift invariant, complex, continuous wavelet transforms) and wavelet-based signal and image processing techniques: denoising, compression, postprocessing of compressed images, image enhancement, image restoration, sampling, classification, segmentation.

Education

Postdoctoral research associate, Computational Mathematics Laboratory at Rice University, Houston, Texas, 1997-1998.
Ph.D. Mathematics, University of Bremen, Germany, 1996.
Masters (Diplom) in Mathematics, University of Hannover, Germany, 1992.
